Mathematical taste perfection

Nature's perfect balance
For millennia, scientists, artists and philosophers have marvelled at how the Golden Ratio (1.618) achieves astonishing harmony in nature. Master Distiller, John Hall, wondered what would happen if it was applied to all stages of gin creation.
The result? The only still of its type in the world, an entirely new distillation method, and a length of finish and complexity of flavour unlike any other gin you've ever tasted.

A CURIOUS MIND
John Hall was a chemist by training, when in 2013, he set about resurrecting a legendary 1929 Cornish bathtub gin recipe. By 2022, he had won IWSC Gold Outstanding with a score of 98/100 - the highest mark a London Dry Gin had ever received.
PURSUIT OF PERFECTION
John noticed that in his 7 years of testing, trialing and improving, he had naturally - unknowingly - been tending towards the Golden Ratio of 1.618, a proportion that occurs frequently in nature to achieve harmony and balance.
ORDER FROM CHAOS
He wondered. If applied holistically to all stages of distillation, could the Golden Ratio achieve perfect harmony of flavour, just as it brings perfect order from chaos in the natural world?
GUIDED BY PHI
Aureus Vita is created through an entirely new approach to distillation : the Fibonacci-Hall method. Guided by the Golden Ratio (Phi φ ), engineered by a master of his craft, and made on the only still of its type in the world.

The fibonacci-hall method
Natural
Harmony
Nature's Golden Ratio governs harmony. Applied to gin creation, it unlocks unprecedented precision in every stage.
Engineered
balance
John Hall's patent-pending Fibonacci-Hall still enforces Φ proportions across maceration, distillation, and dilution—a triphasic engineering marvel.

Revolutionary
process
Traditional distillation blends botanicals, masking flavours. Our still isolates each in Φ-scaled baskets, merging liquid infusion with dual vapour stages for a 34-note flavour cascade and infinite finish.

John Hall's eureka moment came when he applied the Golden Ratio to gin distillation, revolutionising the process and creating a spirit that embodies nature's perfect balance.
This groundbreaking method is reflected in every aspect of Aureus Vita, from its innovative production to its phi-inspired bottle design.

Discover the difference it makes
Even the very best gins only offer drinkers 2 or 3 flavour notes. Aureus Vita delivers an extraordinary flavour journey that dances 10 distinct notes across your tastebuds in a finish where each botanical shines. And, as with the Fibonacci sequence, the longer the flavour goes on, the more balanced and elegant it becomes. This is a very different gin experience.
Only one still in the world
The Fibonacci-Hall still uses a unique triple botanical extraction system which has the golden ratio designed into in 3 dimensions. It is patent pending and exists only at our distillery in Cornwall.
Golden Ratio
The golden ratio is used at every stage of the production process. From the maceration abv, botanical quantities, through to the volume each botanical has to interaction with the liquid and vapour phases.
Every year : a new balance
While Aureus Vita’s flavours won’t change fundamentally, each year will bring subtle variation. The signature botanicals - earthy Juniper and zingy Baobab - are only harvested and used when at their most vibrant. Like fine wine, each vintage will be a new experience.
Versatility
Due to the unique Fibonacci-Hall method, Aureus Vita has a much higher botanical oil content than other gins. Which means much deeper flavour per drop. It can produce and exquisite full bodied martini as well as it can a low abv Gin & Tonic.
Taste goes on
Sipping Aureus Vita for the first time is an extraordinary experience. Flavours from each botanical shine through then dip away with almost mathematical precision. The tasting journey is complex and deeply satisfying, with a finish that is longer and continually dances new flavours as it lingers.

magic in the measure
Here are 3 sample serves but we encourage you to play, test, trial and find your own perfect balance.

Rare by nature
There is only 1 Fibonacci-Hall still in the world, and it’s patent pending. The prototype was invented by John Hall himself and the first official still has been designed and manufactured in Cornwall. Aureus Vita is made only once every Autumn in limited quantities, when key botanicals, Juniper and Baobab, are harvested and can be used at their very freshest.
